
In
the residential areas, the property price oscillates between Rs 6,000 and Rs
8,000 per square yard, whereas in the commercial areas it starts from Rs
20,000 per square yard and goes higher depending on location. The difference
of price between commercial and residential areas varies from a minimum of
Rs 4,000 to the maximum of Rs 10,000.
The local government authorities as well as several private entrepreneurs
have started investing money in the residential properties. This is the
reason behind the emergence of several townships and other community living
facilities.
According to the rate list circulated by the district authorities, the
price of residential areas inside the city near commercial markets went up
to Rs 8,800 per square yard (PSY), while the price of commercial sites went
to Rs 19,800 PSY.

There
are several proposals by leading developers like Alpha Corp. to construct
hotels and entertainment complexes in the city. Amritsar being one of the
major cities in Punjab, the real estate players believe that such an
initiative will bring about a fair escalation of property prices in the
adjacent areas. This will help in catering to the potential inflow of
investors into Amritsar and promote the tourism industry as well.
The company is also constructing a mall 'Alpha Mall' that by reports claim
to have been booked by premier brands in India. There are reports of
technology giants like Wipro planning to set up developmental centers in
Amritsar. If such industrial trends continue like this, Amritsar stands a
fair chance to present itself as one of the most promising and upcoming
cities in India. IT industries and BPO sectors have turned their gaze
towards Amritsar as their next destination.

The
first planned city of the 18th century, Jaipur is showing potential to become
a new age investment destination in North India. The city is strategically located

city, which will have offices, a convention centre, retail outlets, a five-star
hotel, entertainment centers and computerized parking facilities for 1,100 vehicles.
